Iron Man 2 - No Major Spoilers

  • Yeah, the movie was a bit uneven, was various things happening all over the place, but I still really enjoyed it. The key is to go in expecting a good movie, not TEH BEST MOVIE EVAR!!!11!!
  • Tony Stark's father is Walt Disney. Seriously, those film clips look like they came right out of EPCOT or the Carousel of Progress in Tomorrowland… Not to mention the moustache and the Sherman Brothers song over the closing credits.
  • When the first Iron Man movie came out, I spotted Captain America's shield on a table in Tony's lab. People (I'm looking at you, evilgrins!) scoffed, even after I produced a still showing it. Well, the shield is still there; it gets picked up and Tony Stark even uses it to do something.
  • More face time for Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who's still pitching his Avengers Initiative ("your superhero boys band") as well as providing assistance to Stark.
  • Robert Downey Jr. once again is Tony Stark. It's great to watch him, and I wonder how many of his lines in this movie were ad-libbed.
  • That scene in the trailer, where "Pepper" Potts kisses and tosses Iron Man's helmet out of the plane, and Tony leaps after it? Not in the final cut of the movie.
  • Good supporting cast again: Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, Gary Shandling, Scarlett Johansson, etc. Don Cheadle was OK, but I think Terrence Howard would have been better.
  • If you stay through the credits, there's a short scene afterwards providing a link to one of Marvel's next movies. But seeing as how it seems to take several minutes just to see all of the CGI artists listed, you can be forgiven for not wanting to wait – It's not vital, and I'm sure you can find out what happens easily enough from me or someone else who did see it.
  • It was a slow day at work, so I took off at noon to see Iron Man 2 in IMAX a mile or so from my office. I did so with my boss's permission and blessing; he was bored out of his skull, too, and asked me to tell him how it was when I come in on Monday morning.
