Yum.
Bacon Salt is supposed to make everything taste more bacony.¹ Today, I put some on a strip of bacon.

¹It's also vegetarian and certified kosher.

Reading this made me crave bacon. I had to go eat a piece leftover from breakfast.

Last night, Q sent me to the store with a list of ingredients for something she wanted to cook.¹ Bacon was on the list; and since the store had bacon on sale (two packs for $I-forget-how-much) I bought two packs. I cooked the second pack of bacon today.

¹It was seasoned eel wrapped in bacon served with basmati rice. Also yum.

And actually, that's smaller than it was when I landed it; you kill them with salt as they're freshwater. And they lose about 10% of their body weight in the process. Course most of that is slime, so no loss really.

I'm already in two bacon communities, and I'll bet half the people there would have responded, "We've all already done that." Feh.

It's a good thing the Bacon Salt wasn't made with antibacon. That would have been dangerous.

Like if you were to serve pasta with antipasto?

We had a pot luck dinner at a friends and damn if one person brought pasta and the other brought some antipasto. Neither realized the gravity of this error until it was too late.

I was fortunately out on the back porch computing the amount of grass blades needed to construct a 1/164 scale replica of Mon Tiki when it happened. I had gone behind a pile of well seasoned oak split for firewood and had found a particularly good patch of Kentucky bluegrass, which everyone knows is THE single best species of grass for constructing small scale Mon Tiki's, when some poor soul mixed the pasta and antipasto together... The resulting explosion destroyed the kitchen, killed the poor diner and gave my friend spaghetti shrapnel covering his left side. He was only spared more grevious wounds by the fact that whomever had cooked the spaghetti cooked it al dente, so all it did was dent him, causing severe and painful, yet totally survivable, contusions.

This my friends is why you have checklists for pot luck dinners, so you can see what your friends are bringing and thus not bring something that might cause an unwanted and potentially dangerous reaction between various incompatible food types.

Ya, is good. I don't think there any more fissionable plates coming. But I'll put out an announcement that there are to be NO U-235 croutons, lest we have some uncontrolled nuclear reactions happening. Besides, IMHO U-235 croutons really don't taste good with the dusting of graphite moderator that they usually come with from the store bought variety. And since none of my friend have electromagnetic, gaseous diffusion or thermal diffusion methods of uranium extraction large enough for croutons, there is no homemade ones expected. U-235 bacon bits just don't have sufficient mass to interact with plutonium, so we're safe if someone brings those.

I've never heard of bacon salt! I'm not sure I see the point of it being certified kosher, as I doubt there are all that many Orthodox Jews who are craving the taste of bacon. I'm by no means observant, but even I generally avoid bacon. What's actually in this stuff, anyway?

I don't feel like going downstairs to check the ingredients (I should be asleep by now), but it's probably similar to the artificial flavoring used in imitation bacon bits (not to mention that they've been making TVP faux-bacon for many years now).

Have you had the bacon from the Burtonsville Dutch Market? It's the best bacon I've found in MD.

Thick cut and the flavor is incredible.

You even get to order it from a fake amish girl. 8' p

EDIT: Or 1½ miles if they're at the misspelled "Relocating Mid-Summer to" address.
