Telemarket THIS

A couple of weeks ago, Dave Barry wrote a column about telemarketers. He included this in the column: "Call the American Teleservices Association, toll-free, at 1-877-779-3974, and tell them what you think."

Well, a lot of people did. Thousands. The ATA, which insists that they have a constitutional right to call anyone who has a phone, anytime, was not amused. "It's difficult not to see some malice in Mr. Barry's intent," said executive director Tim Searcy.

Barry was unrepentant. "I feel just terrible, especially if they were eating or anything."
