Allah Sulu-South Park

(no subject)

I took this picture on my way home from work today (I left early for daddy duty). I had thought it would take another week or two before I hit 100,000 miles, but I did a lot of driving over the weekend...

Memory Lane

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places have their moments
Of lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I loved them all.

My brother was married on Saturday.  Since we didn't have to leave Rhode Island until (butt early) Monday morning, we had Sunday free.  We drove around a bit looking for a few places, and that ended up snowballing into a drive down memory lane.  I pointed out to my wife several places of (personal) historic significance all around Northern Rhode Island.
One place that I hadn't been to in almost twenty years was the Assembly Theater in Harrisville.  Back in the mid-eighties, I was a member of the Theater Company of Rhode Island, and performed in a number of plays there.  The theater is still there, almost unchanged, and we drove into the parking lot just as the last stragglers were leaving an audition.  Turns out TCRI is still going strong in its 22nd season (I was there for the first two) and the director recognized me almost immediately twenty years later.  I must have made a strong impression; whether good or bad I can't say.  I'll have to see if I can make one of my next trips up coincide with one of their shows.
