"Hide The Rum."

I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest yesterday, which is the first movie I've been able to see on the big screen in quite some time. Fortunately, it was a good one. Not quite as good as the first, and with a sequel-bait cliffhanger ending (Jack Sparrow gets encased in carbonite, Will Turner needs to redeem his father, and Elizabeth Swann makes out with Han Solo because the next movie will reveal that she is Norrington's sister) but still a great diversion.
  • Good job on the make-up/CGI for Davy "Cthulhu, not the Monkee" Jones and his crew.
  • Great extended three-way swordfight (the fight up to the top of that building looked a lot like the Remirez and the Kurgen's duel in Highlander; similar set).
  • Since there was more conflict and angst among the main characters, Sparrow's two droids had a lot of interplay for comic relief.
  • The spoiler was very spoiler indeed.

I almost went to see My Super Ex-Girlfriend instead. Not because I thought that would be a better movie than PotC2, but because I doubt MSEG will be in theaters nearly as long. I'll be able to see that on DVD next month.
