[Plug] Allah Sulu's Massive Tool

I mentioned my Massive Tool to one of my friends recently, and she had no idea what I was talking about. I found that odd, because I thought I talked about my Massive Tool all the time… but then I realized that I haven't really said much about it here in my LJ since I made the as_massive_tool community for information and updates on the topic. So, I figured I'd whip out my Massive Tool for all of you relatively recent befriendings who are just confused or amused by the phrase "Allah Sulu's Massive Tool" as she was.

My Massive Tool is something that I've been playing with for some time now. (Look, I'm sorry, but with a name like that the innuendoes are inevitable!) It's a program I've written, and periodically update, which runs under Microsoft Windows; a bizarre Text/HTML editor on steroids with built-in LiveJournal client functions (and limited applicability for LJ-compatible sites as well). I write almost all of my LiveJournal posts in the Massive Tool, and it generates the various HTML effects I like to employ but am too lazy to type in manually… things like the customized LJ user tags I use, for instance: allah_sulu. I also use it for various text/font effects, lists and tables, and so forth. It even has a fairly powerful scripting language built in that I get a lot of use out of – I'm not kidding when I say that this program is seriously overpowered for a Text/HTML editor. Any time I want to do something, if the capability doesn't already exist in the Massive Tool, I add it – either by modifying the program code itself, or by writing another macro. If any of you are curious, it's a free download; and the as_massive_tool community is there for questions and requests.

I've made several hundred of those little replacement user icons (and am continually making more). They can be seen on the Massive Tool Reference Pages; a site which will also generate custom user tag HTML for you without requiring you to download an executable (and will work with any browser/OS, not just Windows). The custom user tag HTML generated there can be used for LiveJournal, DeadJournal, GreatestJournal, and InsaneJournal users and communities. And, if you want a user icon for a specific character and it doesn't already exist, I do take requests … or you can use my Icon Maker site to create your own!

So there you go. Want to make your own sparkly LJ user tags? Now you know how.
