2010: The Year We Make Contact

fabfunk has done a post entitled The 70 Most Anticipated Movies of 2010 (with commentary, and occasional embed pictures or video). I personally couldn't even name seventy movies period that are coming out this year, so I'll look over his list and make some comments…

  1. The Sorcerer's Apprentice/Season Of The Witch
This is the first one on the list that I've actually heard of (someone posted the trailer in their LJ a couple of weeks ago), but I can't say I'm too excited by it. From the title and the fact that "Disney" was the first name in the credits, I thought it might have something to do with the famous segment from Fantasia; but it turns out that it's just a mindless special-effects laden action movie. With Nicholas Cage as the Sorceror.
  2. Kick Ass
I've seen a couple of trailers for this one. It's the first movie on FabFunk's list which intrigues me. No problem, though, we're still pretty high up on the list.
  3. Jonah Hex
Comic book character from the old west. Heard of him. Not even sure if he's DC or Marvel. Don't really care.
  4. Repo Men
Nope, not a remake of the cult film of the same name, apparently.
  5. Hot Tub Time Machine
Never heard of it. Don't know anything about it apart from the title and that it has one of the Cusacks in it. Tell me more.
  6. The Ghost
What's that? Directed by Roman Polanski? Fuck him.
  7. Red
Never heard of this one, either, but it's action movie with Bruce Willis. I will end up seeing this with GWIII and/or Q's dad.
  8. Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps
    This needed a sequel?
  9. The A-Team
You know what? I never really liked the original. Ever. There, I said it.
  10. Clash of the Titans
I like the original. I own the original. Sure, this one will have better effects; but it won't be worth it if they fuck the rest of it up. Like many of the movies on this list, if I see them at all, it will only be after seeing some reviews and hearing some word-of-mouth.
  11. Tron Legacy
I have no choice. I will see this one. On the big screen. In IMAX and/or 3D if available. That's the first movie on the list for which I must say this.
  12. Paul
Never heard of it; but it's got Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, so it's worthy of some consideration. Like many of the movies on this list, if I see them at all, it will be on DVD.
  13. Toy Story 3
You know what? I still haven't gotten around to seeing the second one yet. We own it, and I've watched everything else Pixar has done (even Cars), but for some reason I just haven't gotten around to seeing Toy Story 2. And obviously, I can't see the third one if I don't see the second one first.
  14. MacGruber
I understand this is based on a character from SNL. You don't have to say another word. Next?
  15. Iron Man 2
I'm there. Next? No, really, next? How can I not have heard of any of the top eight?!
