Disney

Trailer Trash

I love the teaser for Avengers: Age of Ultron, and I think the usage of “I’ve Got No Strings” really works. For you young ’uns, that song is originally from Pinocchio; so its appearance in a Marvel trailer can also be interpreted as Disney marking its territory…

However, the way they made it sound ominous and creepy in the Ultron trailer also reminds me of how they used “Stay Awake” in this fake recut trailer for Mary Poppins. Take a happy, cheerful Disney song, make it slower and deeper with a touch of reverb, and you end up with something frightening…

Star Trek

(no subject)

Mr. Nibbles the cat did not appreciate being dressed up as a giraffe. We didn’t expect him to, to be honest. Anyway, the costume was too small for him; the velcro bands were long enough to wrap around him and hold the costume on, but there was no way his forelegs were fitting through the provided holes. (The costume was designed for annoying little yappy dogs.) Anyway, we took a few pictures while he expressed his displeasure, and then the costume was given to Storvik’s sehlat (a Vulcan teddy bear). The pointed ears actually lined up with the foreleg holes. In the background you can see Cthulhu also sporting a partial giraffe disguise; my stuffed creatures are infiltrating Richard’s large (over forty) collection of stuffed giraffes for various nefarious purposes.
